Canadian Men's National Para Soccer Team

by Administrator 4. February 2012 07:16

Drew Ferguson, Head Coach of the Canadian Men’s National Para Soccer Team was here in Penticton this past week and visited with SOYSA Head Coach Ezra Cremers. Ferguson is interested in holding their National Training Camp here at Kings Park later this year. According to Cremers, “This is an exciting possibility for Penticton and for the Pinnacles FC. Hosting a Training Camp for one of our National Teams would be a big deal for our Club.”

Soccer is definitely on a significant rise right now with the MLS all across North America, with the Whitecaps being so popular, and with Associations like SOYSA bringing soccer development to a whole new level. The Southern Okanagan region is a great place to train and compete, and the possibility of holding the National Training Camp for Canada’s Men’s National Para Soccer Team is just another example of what we can do.

Once all the arrangements are made, Pinnacles FC will make the announcement of the Training Camp and we will encourage all of our local youth players to come out and watch.

Please take a look at this YouTube video to see how these athletes play the game.

Winning a College Sports Scholarship

by Administrator 24. January 2012 10:23

Pinnacles FC recently held a special Training Program for high school aged players that was taught by Ciara McCormack, a Canadian playing Professional Soccer in Denmark.
The players attended two on field sessions featuring instruction on the techniques and skills required to be a Collegiate Soccer Player. In the evening, players and parents alike attended a seminar on the process of being a successful applicant for a College Soccer Scholarship.
Ciara is an expert in this field, having attended and played NCAA Soccer at Yale and the University of Connecticut. She is currently studying for her Masters and playing Professional Soccer in Denmark. Ciara and her father, Barry McCormack, offer books, seminars, and professional consulting on ‘Winning a US College Sports Scholarship’. Ciara regularly writes an article in the Vancouver Province entitled ‘Sports Academy’.
This series of instruction put on by Ciara was very successful. We even had a whole team from West Kelowna attend along with their coach.
Pinnacles FC is dedicated to providing our players with quality soccer experiences and opportunities. This was another step in that direction.

UPDATED FEBRUARY 29, 2012

Following up on the great sessions instructed by Ciara McCormack this past December here in Penticton, SOYSA is pleased to announce how players can further become informed on how to prepare for and win Athletic Scholarships.

Barry McCormack, who is not only an industry leader in this area of expertise, but who also happens to be Ciara’s father, has created a Website called ‘Winning a US College Sports Scholarship’. Please go to www.wuscss.com to receive comprehensive information on the opportunities and the right process for you to follow. According to Pinnacles Head Coach Ezra Cremers, “ Barry and Ciara McCormack are first class individuals. With Ciara on the field and the great program Barry has created, this is a winning combination. If you have any interest in trying for a Sports Scholarship in the US or elsewhere, the information at www.wuscss.com will be vital to your success.”
