3. If a player wants to play on a District Team, do they have to register for Youth as well?

· No, there is a separate District Registration Form. You can download the form if you go to the menu on top of the page, and navigate to District and then Registration.

4. If a player is an affiliate player for a District Team do they have to pay both registrations?

· An affiliated player is registered in the Youth League, pays the current fee, if he becomes an affiliated player he is charged an additional $ 30.00.

5. How many games can an affiliate player play on a District team in one Season?

· It doesn’t matter if you have played on a district team in the past – as long as you are not currently playing on a district team, you can play on a Youth team.

10. If a player is injured early in the season, can they get a refund if they are not able to play?

· Yes, a full refund will be forthcoming up to May 15^th. After this date $ 20.00 is withheld to cover insurance costs which have already been remitted to BC Soccer.

11. If a player changes his/her mind, and doesn’t want to play soccer, is there a refund?

· Yes, up to April 15^th, a full refund is available. Up to April 30^th, a 50% refund is available.

· SOYSA has a $ 500.00 scholarship available upon application, for both girls & boys. Click here for details.

· District Soccer is a program provided for players who excel at the sport, who are wanting a more competitive league to play in and who will be hoping to make soccer a part of their future, either via scholarships or job opportunities. This league plays teams in the Valley from Kamloops to Penticton. They have playdowns to see what area will represent our zone in the Provincials.

14. Can a player play in an older age group in Youth/or District if they feel they are not being challenged enough?

· This option is available, however a request has to be made and a Committee looks at a variety of guidelines that the player should meet. This request must go through our Head Coach.

· Youth games are every Saturday, they can be in Osoyoos, Oliver, Penticton, Keremeos or Summerland. Some games will be scheduled on Friday evenings to help make the league work.

· Usually most Coaches will schedule 2 practices a week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday – it all depends on the Coach’s availability during the week-days.

17. What are other Associations registration costs?

Rutland – Youth $ 115.00 and Mini is $ 105.00
Westside – Youth $ 115.00 and Mini is $ 115.00
Okanagan Mission – Youth and Mini are $ 115.00
Kamloops – Youth $ 130.00 and Mini is $ 115.00
Kelowna – (2006 fees) Youth $ 110.00 and Mini $ 100.00
Vernon – (2006 fees) Youth $ 125.00 and Mini $ 75.00 to $ 100.00
Nelson – (2006 fees) Youth $ 90.00 and Mini $ 90.00

18. How do I know what team my child will be on?

SOYSA does not phone or mail any information regarding your child’s team to you. You will get a phone call from your child’s coach in early March.

19. Can I make a carpooling request?

SOYSA will try to accommodate your request – it must be written on the registration form.

20. Is there a family rate?

Yes there is a family rate. The first two oldest children pay the regular fee, the third and any additional children pay $ 20.00 less the registration fee.

21. What if it rains?

For the most part all games and practices are played in the rain. In the event there is heavy rainfall over an extended period, we recommend you call your coach.

22. What if there is lightning?

If lightning is spotted in your area, play will stop for a maximum of 10 minutes. If lightning is spotted down the valley from you, play will stop for a maximum of 5 minutes. If this happens during a Youth game, whatever time is left before the next scheduled game, will be played out and counted as a full game.

23. If a Youth game has to be rescheduled, the Coach cancelling the game must:

Call the Coach of the other team
Call the Referee Scheduler in the town that was hosting the game and advise
Call the Administrator and advise
Make up games should then be rescheduled on one of the teams practice nights or maybe a Friday night. This is due to the fact that fields are well booked on Saturdays.
Once confirmation is made of rescheduling of a game, the Referee Scheduler must be notified and the Administrator.
Cancellation of any game must have a valid reason
If the Team that cancelled the game cannot make up the game – this team will be given a loss – score will be reflected as 1 – 0 game
